THE UPSIDEDOWN BOOK & MURAL ARTIST

Roman Verostko,
born in 1929, active as an artist for over 50 years, is known internationally for his algorithmic pen and ink drawings. However, for this project he resurrected the upside down drawings from his work of the 1970’s, a period before his algorithmic work. Lying dormant for over 30 years were a suite of drawings he created for an "Upsidedown Book" that was never published.

Now, with well over a quarter century experience as an algorist, with new skills and insights, he has transformed his earlier work into a dazzling array of digital images for both an upsidedown book and a mural spanning a two storey wall. This fusion of past and present has enriched this project and added another dimension to his lifetime work.

His other projects have included illustrations for a limited edition of George Boole’s “Derivation of the Laws . . .” and murals for the University of St. Thomas’ Science & Engineering Center, St. Paul, MN, and for Spalding University‘s Academic Learning Center in Louisville, KY. A founding member of the algorists and recipient of the 1994 Golden Plotter First Prize (Germany), his work has been shown in many national and international exhibitions of generative art. His work is represented in private and public collections of digital art including the Patric Prince collection at the Victoria & Albert Museum in London, UK.
